-------- MY STORY --------

Welsh-born.
Tuscany-shaped.

-----------------

Hi, I’m Susie.

A Welsh-born writer living in Brecon, I create emotionally layered fiction for women over 40 who want stories that reflect real life – the messy, brave, beautiful parts.

My novels explore grief, reinvention, and second chances – the slow, tender kind that often begin just when you think it’s too late.

For twelve years, I lived in Tuscany, rebuilding a life after divorce. The hills, the stillness, the scent of jasmine on warm stone… it healed me, shaped me, and found its way into my stories.

Tuscany did more than give me a setting.

It gave me a landscape for all the things women carry: grief, guilt, longing, second chances, old wounds, and the brave decisions that change everything.

That landscape became Lago di Fiore, the fictional lake at the heart of my Echoes of the Lake series — a world of villas, villages, palazzos, and women standing at the edge of something new.

--------  FICTION FOR WOMEN OVER 40

Because we deserve
to see ourselves
in stories

-----------------

Not the polished, perfect versions.

The real stuff — love after loss, starting over, craving something more even when the world says "you should be grateful."

My novels are for women who've been through things. Who've raised families, closed chapters, held others up for years… and are finally asking: What about me?

They're for women who want fiction that feels like a conversation with someone who truly gets it.

I know what it feels like to hold everything together. To be the dependable one, the steady one, the one who says 'I’m fine' even when you’re anything but.

That’s why I write – to offer a moment of recognition. A gentle mirror. A reminder that you still matter.

--------   WHAT I WRITE

Character-driven fiction
with soul-deep shifts

Emotional honesty above all

No perfect lives. No easy fixes. Just the slow, tender truth of what it feels like to be a woman finding her way through real life.

Women in the middle of complicated lives

The full, complex, longing, funny, heartbroken, hopeful whole of a woman's midlife experience.

Place as character

Tuscany isn't just a backdrop — it's a presence. The light, the warmth, the particular quality of silence in the hills. Places shape people.

Hope that earns its place

My stories are hopeful — but the hope is hard-won. Earned through grief, through honest reckoning, through the quiet courage to begin again.

-----------    A FEW FACTS — JUST FOR FUN ---------

A few things
about me

I lived in Tuscany for twelve years, and I’m fairly sure I left a small piece of my heart there.

I'm a proud granny, which is one of the greatest joys of my life.

I once owned a Triumph motorbike. Yes, really, I was a biker chick.

Before writing fiction, I worked as a chemist, then as a photographer, so I’ve always been drawn to detail — the tiny things that reveal a bigger story.

These days, I write from a garden shed in Brecon, usually surrounded by notebooks, crumbs, and far too many ideas.

And I make a mean plate of pancakes. The Welsh way, obviously.
