About Susie Sharp

Writing emotionally layered fiction for women over 40

  Hello, lovely – I’m Susie.

A Welsh-born writer living in Brecon, I create emotionally layered fiction for women over 40 who want stories that reflect real life – the messy, brave, beautiful parts.

My novels explore grief, reinvention, and second chances – the slow, tender kind that often begin just when you think it’s too late.

For twelve years, I lived in Tuscany, rebuilding a life after divorce. The hills, the stillness, the scent of jasmine on warm stone… it healed me, shaped me, and found its way into my stories.

I know what it feels like to hold everything together for everyone else. To be the dependable one, the steady one, the one who says 'I’m fine' even when you’re anything but.

That’s why I write – to offer a moment of recognition. A gentle mirror. A reminder that you still matter.

Why I Write Fiction for Women Over 40

Because we deserve to see ourselves in stories.
Not the polished, perfect versions. The real stuff — love after loss, starting over, craving something more even when the world says 'you should be grateful.'

My novels are for women who’ve been through things.
Who’ve raised families, closed chapters, held others up for years… and are finally asking:
What about me?

They’re for women facing the emotional weight of griefdivorce, or midlife burnout, and still holding hope for something beautiful ahead.

They’re for women who want fiction that feels like a conversation with someone who truly gets it.

What I Write

I write character-driven, emotionally rich novels about second chances, slow healing, and the kind of personal transformation that doesn’t happen in a flash — but in quiet, soul-deep shifts.

My debut novel, Time For Tuscany, explores what happens when a woman dares to choose herself after loss.

Set against sun-warmed walls, cypress shadows, and golden Tuscan afternoons, it’s a story of rediscovery, quiet strength, and love in unexpected places.

A few facts… just for fun

  • I lived in Tuscany for 12 years (and left a little piece of my heart behind)

  • I’m a granny – and it’s one of the great joys of my life

  • I don’t drink tea or coffee… yes, really

  • I used to be a chemist, then a photographer, and now I tell stories for a living

  • I care for my elderly dad – and treasure our time together

  • I cry at films most people wouldn’t

  • I make a mean plate of pancakes. The Welsh way, mind. Yes, there is a difference

  • My family are my world

  • I once owned a Triumph motorbike – yes, I was a biker chick

  • My garden shed is my creative sanctuary

  • I feel guilty, all the time

  • I believe no story is ever truly finished – we’re all just in another chapter
